When to put a ficus on a bonsai pot?

We have really close growing conditions, maybe your's a little better because i live in south Brazil. I do in fact have a water jasmine cutting, currently trying to propagate it.


Would you remove some branches from the top? Which ones?


Don't you guys have Neagari maples though? It should be similar, right?

Not really. Those are grown mostly in ground or adapted from trees that mostly have existing root structure that works for nagar. Closest thing would be root over rock where the roots are gradually exposed as they grip the rock. However the end feeder roots are in the ground or the soil in a container. They are left exposed to air temperature which depending on local conditions can freeze and kill them.

Cold weather. Frozen exposed maple roots. In summer, dry winds. Might be doable in Fla, with a trident
