If you're not sure...just take your time and enjoy it for a while. Not a bad looking little tree.

I agree that is a real nice plant :) If it were mine I would set it on the patio where I could see it at eye level for a good long while and come up with a plan. As is it looks nice so no harm taking your time with it.

Nice! It looks like most of the foliage is mature. Whoever you got it from must have been treating it well. You don't have to be in a rush to do anything to it. Like Grimmy said, just sit it out where you can look at it for a while.

Thank you all, I plan on repotting it next spring maybe. It looks great the way it is.

Ditto to everything stosh. After a period of time it will come to you. Nice little tree.

You don't see a whole lot of Procumbens with mature foliage. Good find. It looks like one of House of Bonsai's. No wiring or styling is needed. What plans do you have for a pot?

Yes, House of bonsai! I plan on getting a light brown, flat finished rectangular pot. Maybe in plastic about 10 x 7 x3 1/2.

Yeah that is a nice find. I've been working with procumbens for well over 10yrs now and one thing I 've learned if you want to keep them healthy is to make sure they are always getting their micro nutrients, either through chelated iron or an acidic fertilizer. Of course the fertilizer will put on new growth so I balance between that and the iron. I would also open up some of the foliage on this one and let the branching be visible to some extent. You'll be happy you did.;)

That is a beautiful tree. I've had mine for 2 months now. I've seen no new growth. But roots and foliage are healthy. Few weeks ago I gave it mirclegro and superthrive. But now, I will buy what you are using. Where did you buy your fertilizer from? If you don't mind me asking.

I just use the basic 20-20-20 fertilizer, usually marked for Azaleas because of its acid content. Just try and also find some chelated iron in liquid form and give 1tbsp to 1 gal of water every so often to keep the micronutrients going so you don't get any yellowing. If you have real dense foliage on your pads, make sure you keep the tree in full sun. That's why it's best to clean out the dense foliage so you don't get any yellowing and dead spots inside where no light can shine. Let me know if you have any other questions.

A finished bonsai, is a dead bonsai. That's when you stop wiring.

Have to disagree, this will need a lot of wiring. Not wiring it leaves it as a bush in a pot. Wiring gives the finished look to the trees we strive for. Not wiring it is quitting. This will look so much better thinned and wired, you might not even recognize it when done.

Tell me what you think about my newly styled NANA? All scars are healing nice and very healthy!

Is it just the lighting or does the foliage look sort of gray?

Rob

Honestly, it looks unhealthy. What sort of planting medium do you have it in? I'm concerned about the health of the tree...especially when compared to the first images. Notice the color difference?

Its not as green as the original picture, its a light green now. . Im not sure what medium it is, but the tree is healing and im seeing growth.

Gray color such as this sometimes indicates it was attacked by mites. I don't want to speak too soon, but when an entire tree, especially a conifer turns a different color out of season, it usually means the tree is dead. Some close ups of the foliage might be helpful to make a better assessment.

I thought Procumbens never converted to that type of foliage... I had only seen the open type of foliage.

That is the adult foliage. Pretty badass! It takes a minute or two to get there.
