What did you do today? Show us Pic Required

Not today, last weekend we drove to the Grand Canyon in AZ on the way to pick up the new addition to the family.

Meet Dior. (Wife named her... don't blame me) a Yorkshire Terrier from an awesome breeder that has taken care of Yorkies for over 40 years.

I am not good at taking pictures, but here are a few I took while at the Grand Canyon. Mostly pinion pine and Utah junipers.

This one call my attention as the pine is growing in the middle of a U juniper.

This would make a great bonsai if it wasn't as wide as me.

Ponderosa I think...

Last 3 pics are from the same tree.

Found out that crepe myrtle flowers smell nice...
Went to Lowe’s at lunch to get something I needed and came across some myrtle varieties I've never seen before. Crepe myrtle Bellini grape and Bellini strawberry. Bought one of each. While I was picking through them something smelled nice, but there were butterfly bushes right there and I blamed it on them. It still smelled nice in the car, so I went for a closer whiff - they do smell nice! Came home and smelled mine, they don't smell at all.

Almost forgot to buy what I needed. 🤷‍♂️

This happened this past week (it’s been a hellaciously busy week lol) but basically I had a family of 3 raccoons that decided to do the coyote ugly on a bench(or something) and toppled a tree overnight. Cant say I was amused as that meant an emergency repot(plus the loss of a really nice Waldo Pottery container).

Cant say it was an easy repot to solo but had to get it done. Pup knew I was pissed so she decided to hang out nearby.

I didn’t get a chance to take a final photo yet but it’s recovering under shade and seems to be doing well thus far.

I don't know about you, but I have little love for raccoons. If I see them in the wild, I'll leave them alone but if in my house, I will deal with them. Years ago, they got in my house and killed my children's cat.

Discovered a treasure trove of collectable "sidewalk" moss that is simply too beautiful to not take advantage of...
I already cleaned up, and put a bunch of it in a small potted lemon cypress, and I had to go back for more when I saw the final product.
Problem is, I don't need it right now, but I'm going to be moving soon.

Can anyone tell me the best way to store it for future use? It's VERY durable moss. It's growing in full-on direct sunlight, and doesn't turn brown...I really want to use it more in the future if I can. Could I just dry it out?

I have had good luck drying it out then shredding it and mixing it in with shredded sphagnum moss. Once it gets growing it takes over the sphagnum fairly quickly. This lets you store it and make more of it.

When I was stationed in Virginia we had this problem with opossums. My tough ass cat, though, somehow managed them. Then people act like I'm crazy for not liking opossums.

Pic tax, a shot of that cat being badass

I miss that cat.
