What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

Well, couldn't resist a bargain and got myself another Trident Maple in training.
Can't wait to pick it up on Sunday!

Sorry for the blurry picture, it's from from the vendor.
When I have it on my bench I will post a good one!

An electric toothbrush. Actually, just a new "brush" that adapts to the electric handle. I use the old ones to srcub out the moss at the base of trees.

Bonsai-related, eh ? 😄

Other than that, I bought 30-litres bags of pozzolane (5/7 mm) and composted pine bark (1+ mm) about... 9 months ago !...

Humm...
Pozzolane...
C'est quoi ça? I wonder...

I like the "C'est quoi ça ?" Sounds like real French 😄

Português

English

In French "Pouzzolane". Sharp edges, good for root ramification.

Incredible.
Chic French/Italian for pumice!
😂

Just curious, who are you getting the BRT from?
I got it from Jason Schley since I was already getting the kinzu kumquat from him. All his BRT are or were on sale on his website.

However its currently lost in the USPS system... just realised it's probably because they were mandated to prioritize the mail in ballots. Bad timing...

This has recently happened with 3 of my bonsai shipments. One or two also happened during the time when the weather was crazy from all the fires. Don't worry about it too much, and make sure to get it out of the box as soon as you can :)

I saw they were on sale. We actually went to his nursery last year when we vacationed in Florida. Out in the middle of nowhere, but worth the trip. Hope you get your stuff soon and unharmed.

I bought a set of cheapo diamond dust hole saws off of Amazon. I then went around to several thrift stores and "dollar" stores and got several bowls and containers of the appropriate sizes for bonsai pots. I then drilled the drainage holes. I got 8 "bonsai" pots AND the hole saws for less than the cost of 1 decent 10" bonsai pot. Fair enough.

I have drilled a few flea market bowls. Would love to see yours. Start a thread on bonsai pot conversion.

Chic French/Italian for pumice!

These are two different minerals :

- Pozzolan (Fr. pouzzolane) is rather heavy, dark red to black. Easily available from the "Massif Central" in France. Big chunks are used as filter in cesspools in places in the countryside where's there's no sewer system.
- Pumice (Fr. pomice, or pierre ponce) is very light and white/cream. Most of it comes from either Italy or Germany : a local provider calls it "bims", he gets it from Germany.

Thanks for the explanation, @AlainK .
I really didn't know pozzolan, interesting.
