What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

I just ordered 6 lebanese cedars and a Japanese Black Pine pre bonsais from Conifer King so I’m eagerly waiting for those to be delivered. I also just bought three nursery stock coast redwoods from the local nursery here. I can’t wait to do some work on these, trimmed up the redwoods but waiting til spring for repotting.

Figured I needed to get a new camera as the old beast is throwning tantrums now and then.

Have a second-hand set waiting for me to see after the weekend..

Maybe I should start asking people watching my channel to contribute :) (it is not likely that I will ever get enough advertising money to pay for it)

a few weeks ago I was told that the pine I reserved was sufficiently established after collection that it could be picked up. Whether I wanted to proceed with the purchase.

My will power is low too. Mine are out for delivery still.
I used to work at a place with daily ups delivery/pick up. Our regular guy would kick and punch his way through the back of his truck to find our package. He was nice enough though. The good with the bad.

That's nice. Bruce Lee of UPS. :)

There’s always patreon 😉

Twofold purchases for an exciting new project next year.

First, a hefty box of seiryu aquarium stones. Kind of took a crapshot on these being a good purchase or not, though selecting the box with a variety of small/medium/large pieces was a wise move. For about 75$ I have enough material for this project and several more... or maybe one huge one 😈. I'll be mortaring them together to effectively make one solid piece out of three selected smaller stones.

Secondly a really unique yamaaki slab. It has a beautiful glaze and some notable, albeit uneven patina started. It's oceanic essence really directed a lot of my decisions when it came to selecting and arranging the scene. I ultimately decided on this arrangement, feeling that it was the best compromise of planting surface area with a considerate balance of rock relative to slab. The simple profile should nicely echo a sense of serenity that Is conveyed through texturing resembling gentle tidal waves.

20240819_190527.jpg20240819_190530.jpgThe current tennnative plan is to use several japanese quince. I'm very aware that this isn't the sort of context we would see them in naturally, but I think pursuing a concept that is somewhat fantastical and otherworldly would be an unconventional exercise. I must also confess that I'm just a sucker for quinces.

I guess the scientific name for this kind of geological formation would be a "Skerry", neat, right?
