What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

Ordered a bare root, Japanese larch seedling from Scenic Hills Farm that arrived today. Potted it up and watered it in after work. In the past, I've ordered seedlings from the Johnsteen Company. Everything I was interested in this spring (Japanese larch, ginko, trident maple, deodor cedar, etc) were all out of stock. Found Scenic Hill on line and decided to give it a try with a single larch. Am pleased with what I got. About 16" tall with branched roots. Looks healthy. I would consider ordering from them again.

Couldn´t avoid to work a little more on it.....

In my world that’s a steal at 25$ almost anything in a garden centre is at least 25 and a flowering tree with a nice trunk I would expect to be 75$ min looks like it has a lot of potential. But I know zip about the species

I didn't need another ginkgo until I saw that I needed another ginkgo!

From the local nursery where I went specifically to look for cherry trees for the yard...not more trees for pots. I did not come home with any cherry trees...but I will need a new pot in a year or 3!

Just a update pic is of the lava grip ( crushed pumice ) I purchased so far I really like the dark black colour 16 kg 35 lbs Bag yield after sifting is this common kitty litter pail . About 3/4 full sifting fines are a very respectable grande zip lock bag about 1/2 full call it 3/4 if a litre ( quart ) even it is not supper fine dust just slightly smaller . I’m sure I’ll find a use Comparison is my regular crushed red granite .
Which does sift larger . The pumice sifts about the same size as DE

Told myself I wasn't going to buy any trees this year as I have tons of free ones from last season and a space issue. Couldn't pass this up though. Physocarpus (Ninebark) "Little Devil". 20230415_185147.jpg

I was stunned by the trunks of these when they came into work. So thick and exfoliated. Usually when we get Ninebark in, they're very suckery and truly shrublike. They're from Monrovia so went to check the price with fear in my heart... only 35$! So i tossed and turned for a few weeks and found myself in the nursery department today, admiring them again. Figured, what the hell.20230415_185204.jpg20230415_185213.jpg

I have no experience with this genus and I rarely see them worked on. The exfoliated bark and leaf shape is very appealing in my opinion... and this variety has very small, plum-purple leaves. Send me a dm if you have any experience with them! Im off to the university extension websites now...

Made my first online tree purchase this morning- a Brazilian rain tree and tiger bark ficus from Wigert’s. Pretty hard species to find for sale here in Oregon it seems.
Wigerts is awesome with top quality trees. You will be pleased with your purchase. Also welcome to the nut house!
