I re-joined Longwood Gardens as a yearly member ,like I used to for several years.I live about 20 minutes away now.
The conservatory is a great experience!
I will add better photos as I go there every week.....the historic statues and fountains outside have been restored and new plumbing too.Absolutely awesome.
Great pace to ponder Art,music,nature......
For reference .....the Bonsai are sitting on a table with 6” wide boards it seems.
Monster Trident ,nice Kotobuki too.Killer Satsuki.I like their bald cypress too.Nice branches on it!
Bonsai are behind glass.

Wow, I’ve never seen a Hinoki literati like that! So cool! With the live vein and everything. So different from the classic Hinoki image. My first thought was “that’s strange looking foliage for a juniper...”. Very inspiring.

I live on the Maryland,PA line, have always wanted to make the pilgrimage there,I heard they had bonsai, apparently very nice bonsai!

A lot of the trees are on loan from the Kennett collection if I remember.

Used to go to Longwood on field trips as a kid. Still remember the beauty.

nice trees on loan from Kennet Collection at Longwood Gardens today.

The first Yew has rediculous deadwood and live vein.Started 1919 training.

Massive Chojubai. They are 8” planks on tabketop!

the last Pine is huge about 4’ across. The biggest I ever seen at Longwood .Not labeled yet may have just been put on displey.

oh well have a nice day off at Longwood just renewed for the year

Bc has certainly been there a while!
Yes it has. And it does resemble the ones growing there- check them out! Huge, but take the triangular shape of a mature conifer rather than a flat top as they do here.

I try to get there annually for their christmas setup but didnt make it this year. Maybe in the spring this year.

There is a whole "lane" of them I believe. Massive trunks... misleading in the pictures as to size but represents the "Northern mature form". 0928171826.jpg0928171827.jpg
