The Friends School of St. Paul, MN. Has an annual spring plant sale. It’s a crazy event. First come first served to a huge array of plants over 3 days.

Even though I got there the second day real early, most everything I was looking for was gone.
Went home with some annuals for my wife, and this. IMG_8701.jpegSince I’ve seen these used as nice bonsai, I grabbed it up.

Day of purchase, it looked a little sparse.

Fast forward to recent: filling out nicely.IMG_9497.jpegIMG_9496.jpegIMG_9495.jpeg
I hope to give it the right care wintering it indoors. 🤞

@leatherback has a very nice Jaboticaba that he winters inside. He lives in northern Germany.

What are your plans for it? It's already looking like a pretty nice little shohin!
As of now, I’m just going to let it grow with occasional prunes and up-potting in the future.

Cool! We need a jabuticaba growers thread!

:) It is a bit bare at the moment though. Pruned it back to branch stumps 6 weeks ago and it has been cold and raining ever since.
Did I mention I probably have managed to root cuttings of it?

My Little guy has almost completely shed its leaves.
I don’t believe it got too dry, but it’s possible.
We will see. IMG_0419.jpeg

Well it jumped back with some new leaves a couple of months ago. IMG_1002.jpegAfter it started to fill out, I took the plunge and got it out of the 4” nursery can. IMG_1193.jpegIMG_1207.jpegWe will see how it does.

Does anyone have some recommendations on how to get this guy healthy again?
Growth has been at a standstill, and as you can see leaves our pale green to white.

I’ve fed it acid loving granules, and have begun only using rain water.

Thank you!IMG_1591.jpegIMG_1592.jpeg

I have a few indoors - growing in an attempt to get them to fruit (in canada :P ). During the winter, when I bring them inside, they dont need much light at all to survive and even put out a few flushes of growth. Window light is more than enough. :)

Photo update after small prune today. IMG_2110.jpegIMG_2108.jpegI’m leaving it bushy to push thickening, but had to snip away some shading long growth.

Got a little artsy-fartsy with the cool sunlight coming through the backdrop.
The little guy seems to be doing pretty good.

We’ll see how it winters this year. IMG_2683.jpegIMG_2682.jpegIMG_2677.jpegIMG_2680.jpeg
