Tree / Bonsai drawings / sketches

There's a lot of creativity on this page. if you can create images like this on paper this can most certainly be translated into tree design. i can do virts but no where near as good as some of these.

this sketch was done by Will baddely who's also an amazing artist and it shows in the styling of his trees

Thanks! Adobe Photoshop / illustrator is what I use but there is a subscription. Gimp and Krita are free programs that are apparently good substitutes. Have not use them myself though.

Autodesk sketchpad is a good free drawing software too!

Edit - seen someone already suggested this

I've been having a dabble using the Pen Up app on my samsung note - pretty cool as the phone comes with a pen too. Posted this in a thread of mine - plan for my juniper. I'm no artist but found that having a doodle is definitely helping to plan out the tree - be more creative with it and think about each bit of work that'll need to be done to get there

Loving everyone's art on here, cool thread

Very atmospheric. Probably not what you’re going for but it reminds me of skeletal trees on a lava field.
Ta! I was thinking Japanese Cherry with flowers.....but the trunks are more Plumb so who knows.

Quink, water, a dip pen and a brush - I can live with these ingredients I reckon!

I was moved the other day to draw some kind of whimsical elven fantasy tree. Inspiration came from a Harp/lyre and a musical note. The "strings" would be thread grafts that would feed into the canopy.
