The Tree Thread

Thanks,
I have had that juniper for a many years. It was a rescued yard tree (as many of my trees are). I believe it is San Jose. Here is a little Procumbens that I'm playing around with right now.

This too is a very nice Juniper. How long have you been working on it?

Another Shimpaku in the process of redesign.

Going through my disorganized photo files and I found some pictures from the Iowa State Capitol grounds of a very nice and mature Gingko in fruit.

I thought some of you Gingkophiles would get kick out it. Sorry that the web page soft ware has a problem posting pictures in portrait format.

Such a sweet setup, and what a wonderful collection you have. You are very talented, and I hope you post more often.

Since my trees are being over wintered at the nursery, I only have my ficus to show. This green island was defoliated a few weeks ago and is leafing out again. The plan is to defoliate again this summer and fine wire, and be shown this fall. It's far from ready but it's a start.

Thank you for being kind, tmmason10. A good start. The first branch will need attention, I am sure you know. It will take all the energy from letting the trunk/top develop.

Nice Mugo as usual Vance. I actually have a small (shohin size) Mugo (in the California desert mind you) that is doing well. Here is my Chinese Elm. I don't have a recent picture but it is leafing out now and looks cool. I will take one and post it soon. These are from just prior to defoliating for the Winter Silhouette Show and at the show. Also an artist rendering form the show.
Enjoy!!

Thanks to all who posted especially Dorothy for coming out with this difficult thread but great idea. :)

Here is my bonsai assistant...not a tree but very much bonsai related in my book. He demands to be out with me whenever I am working on my trees. LOL

Ready for spring...buds moving!
I thread-grafted 6 seedlings through the base to improve the nebari, so it's planted a bit deeper this year.

How cool is that! Thank you much for sharing. Can you post progression photos, please..

would love to see a good pic of that leafed out

I second that! How long has it been in training? Thanks

Heres possibly my favorite tree in my collection. A JBP Root over rock. This used to be the back corner but is being developed into the new front. It has yet to be repotted to correct the inclination

Nice tree, nathanbs. Do you have a pic of the old front? When was the tree planted over the rock? Thanks

I think I know what you mean, but if you wanted to elaborate I do have a thread opened on this tree.

Another ficus I wired last fall. A Wigerts purchase while I was visiting my grandparents.

You know, I am trying to limit my replies here because I have to post a tree every time..lol..However, you sir, have drawn me out with this absolutely stunning CA juniper..;)

Shohin azalea. 7-8 years of training this 5 inches tall, 2 1/2 inch nebari little tree. It still has some refinement to go. The mountain it looks like it is sitting on is nebari. The trunk/nebari looks like it has different colors. I have to brush and clean it at some point.:D

Nice set up. Tranquil...

Hi Don..I have a question...Can I have this tree?:D

This shohin shimpaku was originally styled by Suthin Sukolsolvisit a little over 1 1/2 years ago. I have repotted it and been refining it. It is about 7-8 inches tall with about a 3 inch base.
