It was not a raffle it was an auction and boy did I pay for it.....

These twin Japanese maples I picked up on clearance at a normal nursery a couple of weeks ago. They had about 6 more, but it had no idea what I would do with them all. No graft marks naturally small and super ramified. Both about 4 feet tall. This is after a a quick first pruning. Repotting should be a nightmare. They seem to be growing happily in a brick of clay. Should be nice in a few years. I'm going to use as book ends on my shade bench. Just ordered two twin 23 inch long pots for them. image.jpgimage.jpg

You got it Vance, it's a trident. I like your Japanese maple!

Here's a Deshojo JM

Ficus Salicifolia

Purchased this tree from a local club auction, nurtured it back to health earlier this year and recently repot it, got rid of the training soil/pot it was in:

Here's a limber pine I enjoyed spending Sunday afternoon with.

With all the ugly banter, how about getting back the trees. This is a scrub oak that I took a picture of about a month ago. I loved the natural bends in the tree, and the fall colors were real nice too. Maybe this next spring I can find a place to collect one.

I hope you enjoy.

This is my first elm, a winged elm (alata):

Winged elm first.jpg

Over the years it got weaker since I did not let it rest enough, especially during fall. So I gave it a repot and lots of rest, probably for about 4 years. Winged elms grow very slowly and by now even the trunk is developing wings. This is the tree defoliated and untrimmed:
