Grab your bags of cement!

The Official Cement Bonsai Pot Contest is here.

Rules are simple.

Make a bonsai pot out of Cement. You can use any technique you want, add any other ingredients you like.

The main categories will be

1.Traditional style bonsai pot.

2. Experimental: this can take any shape or form that you can come up with. E.g Slab/rock planting

3. Best overall. This will include full displays of your newly designed pot with a tree in it.

You can enter as many times as you like. Simply upload some photos of your finished product, maybe include a description and photo's of your method/progress shots. Try and keep each entry try to one post if possible.

User votes will decide the winners.

We will conclude the contest on the 1st of May 2023. We can finish up early if people lose motivation.

Not bad looking.
I have a BIG spruce I need to figure out to handle. I keep thinking about making a big slab for it, but I know between the cement and the tree I'll never be able to lift it.

I'd imagine you could make a fairly lightweight slab with a solid wire frame "painted" with cement?

Maybe. I'll have to play around with the idea.
I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult to get the slab to 1 inch/2 cm thick, and might find a way to make it lighter with some perlite maybe.🤔

Keep pushing you all. I am too busy with plants and clay, but I appreciate this concept and want to see you all carrying through.
I have been far to preoccupied. I am starting to get some ideas 💡 flowing throw my head now so I'm gonna have to experiment abit.

Made this recently and have just planted moss in the terraces.
Top tree pot is removable for easy maintenance.
