the Mother Load -Warehouse Full of Pots

Some more pics of the pots. I went back again to look for a certain pot.
A tree at one of the bonsai growers. He was a lower end grower but very nice. Chatted a while and he carried my toddler around.

I would never have thought a country with as many earthquakes as Taiwan would stack pots this size so precariously.

Anyone care to ID these chop marks?

Went back to this store to get a few pots.
They seem to specialize in LARGE containers and mass produced run of the mill pots and then some slightly better quality pots that are still produced in large numbers. Almost all if not all, are Chinese imports.
The quality stuff is help by a few sellers that have smaller shops. There wares are usually Japanese imports, antique imports or high quality Chinese handmade stock. Usually a lot harder to find their showrooms and get invited in.

Still amazes me how they balance pots in an earthquake area.

This room was cordoned off for some reason.

To give an idea of prices I will show these pots below.
What I love/hate about Taiwan is prices are either not given (to offer a price dependent on the customer) or they are not what is on the label. Usually cheaper.
This pot is $10,800ntd which is about US$384. It a large pot. But at the counter would probably only come to about US$310

This was marked at $48,000ntd, about US$1,704.00. At the till you would probably pay about US$1,400.

These prices at the till are guesses and as per almost all Taiwanese stores, buying more gives good bargaining leverage.

The pots are very affordable and the quality is pretty decent.

This was another pile em to the rafters pot shop.

Unglazed pots on the right marked $10,000ntd or about US$355.00

These blue pots were $30,000ntd which is very roughly US$1,000. The unglazed pots behind them $20,000ntd, about US$710.00

So, the typical bonsai is a two-man tree?

These stores/warehouses are in an area that specializes in bonsai and landscape gardening. So I think this is why a lot of pots are larger.

Most gardening stores carry bread and butter bonsai pots across the island.

Ok parachuting into the coordinates now. Those stone slabs are cool.
Not stone (ceramic) and pretty high priced...Here's a comparison for a man-made cerment slab here in the U.S...just sayin...

Stone -like slabs … I know there are ceramic and was just saying they were cool.. I know the Jan Culek are expensive

Just saying the slabs in the photos are also about $1,400 from what the OP says.

Went to a market in Taipei this weekend and got a few more shohin and mame pots I needed (wanted).
This place has some amazing bonsai but are not keen on photographers.
It is mostly flowers, orchids and garden supplies with rando bonsai stores in between. It is laid out between tow large roads under an expressway.
A video to give you an idea

Every year I go I look for a local potter. The last 2 years I bought from the same guy but hew was not there this year.
But I did find a husband-wife team that specialize in small pots. I really liked them, the pots and the glaze colours. So I picked up 4 pots.
