I was going around last week looking for some pots and was pointed towards a shop I thought was a run of the mill small nursery with a few larger pots for pot plants outside.
When I got there I realized the store, although only about 6m (18ft) wide, was very deep and double story.
It was filled from rafter to floor with pots. Mostly unglazed, but a few cheap glazed pots. Then there were a few older more valuable pots.
I now have to refrain from visiting more as I will be too tempted to buy more pots. Some were shito size, others were huge bonsai pots used for imperial bonsai or even larger.
The lady helping me however was not the friendliest person this side of the strait. lol. This may be due to her not having the pot I was looking for which she could not believe.

The pics below are only a fraction of what was on offer.

I could really go for one two of those larger lotus pots. You just would find something like that on our side of the pond.

how were they all priced? At least to what we pay in the states

They were very well priced and the most expensive one I saw was US$135. Didn't look at the larger ones though. Some small ones were US$35 as their quality was better.

I myself am not a fan of lotus shaped pots really but there was a larger on that was very nice.

False alarm. You're half way around the world. I was hoping...
Lol. Maybe you guys in areas, clubs, teams, or even bonsai social groups should get together, chat a bit and maybe do a large group order sharing shipping costs. I can help from this side find pots in pics you like and have them shipped over. There is a shipping pallet/shipping wooden container factory 7 shops down from here and we can make sure they are packed right.

A fabulous find....like the end of a treasure hunt. I’d likely spend hours there....with the storekeeper hounding me to buy...buy more.

Great spot, im very jealous, there is no such place around me :(
The best i can get is just regular garden pots....

FWIW, there are places like this IN THE U.S.

Used to be, at least. Osiga Yen Huang up in Maryland used to sell high end Chinese pots. I bought a few from him 10 years ago after visiting his place. His basement looked like this warehouse--a lot of pots on industrial shelves. I don't know if he's still selling. He was at the last PBA show in D.C. I think.

Went travelling a bit today. Found another warehouse with many Chinese imports. Also met some great bonsai people with even better pots.

Found the mother load 2.0.
Again from tiny lil pots to huge pots for landscape trees. Lots of mass produced and some quality in this warehouse.

I suppose that next, you're going to tell us you found a bunch of Chinese guys there, too. Are you a travel agent shaking the bushes?

So between 1.0 and 2.0, did you ever find just that right pot she didn't have at the 1st place?

No but we keep looking. A bonsai pot dealer is going to Japan in March and will have a look with his suppliers there. These guys were super friendly and very helpful. They are apparently one of the biggest bonsai pot suppliers on the island. At least the county.

Not a travel agent by any means but if you are hinting you would like me to arrange some bonsai tours this side, feel free to ask.
