The MichaelS appreciation Thread.

How can you prove anyone wrong?
You didn't even know the difference between blue rug and procumbens nana.
But now MichaelS is the final word?
He doesn't even know the difference between San Jose and procumbens nana junipers.

Blah3.

I guess I missed something but I'm glad I did haha. If it weren't for @MichaelS I'd only have one testicle, I owe the man my fertility

It has gone too far.....

I Can't Allow my friends to "bubble" themselves any longer.

Is this another source of info we will run off?

Most recently....
We are arguing the Procumbins vs. San Jose...
Where I found 2 Universities backing up MichaelS...

Yet WE call HIM a fool.

Is Bonsai Art?

MichaelS kindly broke his argument down to tangible facts....

And we cussed him out.

I was going to go find the proof.

But You Should just believe me.

If you want to argue....
Post the "mean" or "ignorant" MichaelS quote....

And I'll prove you wrong with other quotes....

If you think you have read and understand what happened better than I.....

Please Remember....

@sorce he may have awesome trees. I'll gladly give him that, he may be willing to tell you what he thinks he did to get them. But he is also a colossal dick and/or functionly illiterate. I'm leaning toward and. He reminds me of a tourist who thinks by yelling louder and slower the person listening will magically understand. His arguments are textbook straw man and tautology. There are 7.5 billion people in this world, being good at bonsai is no excuse for being a sap (shitty ass person). There are plenty of other people good at bonsai who are not sap.

I don't know enough about bonsai technique to evaluate his advice, but I know enough about poor reasoning skills to mistrust people who demonstrate piss poor reasoning, it doesn't mean they are necessarily wrong, but I'm not going to bet on them being correct.

Let me know if you need explanations of the above.

Hello Michael
I just saw your reply on the art thread- no comment on that from me.
This is an appreciation thread after all.
Perhaps we got off to a rocky start.
If I ask questions to you it is not to prove that I am right. It is to gain understanding for myself. To learn.
Can you tell me anything about yourself?
You've been doing bonsai for 40 years. What other hobbies do you have?
Do you have a career? Retired?
What is it like where you live? Do you have photos of your ground grown trees?
When I debate a subject it's because I want to learn.
Do it with passion or not at all.- right?
I agree to disagree about art and pro nana- lol
But there must be something we have in common.

@amcoffeegirl girl
I don't want an appreciation thread and I don't need to be appreciated. I do like to discuss concepts. I do like to convey what I have discovered. I do like when others take me up on what I say if they have a valid point. If I think they don't have a valid point I will tell them directly. I don't like when they really have nothing much to say so use sarcastic and puerile language as this is the lowest most pathetic form of communication. It's like taking the ball and running home. I do like to display my work. I don't need or seek praise. I appreciate it when it is given. I already know my own standards and I don't need others to tell me what they are. I don't need reassurance. I am happy to help anyone with whatever I can if I can. Sometimes I will help them whether they like it or not. I don't have all the answers. I can tell the standards of others immediately upon seeing one of their trees. I like to hear negative criticisms as it can make me see something in a different way. I don't have much time for fools. I think M, Frary is a bit of a joker but probably quite a normal bloke. I think sawgrass has some issues. I don't wish ill on anyone. That won't stop me from paying out on them. I don't ''ignore'' anyone. I like to cut through bullshit as quickly as possible - if possible. I grow rare orchid species. I have been doing bonsai for 30 years not 40. I live near the coast on a peninsula. I will retire when I drop dead. I have done engineering and many other jobs. Yes - do it well or leave it. I won't show too many details of my ground grown material. I'm happy to share everything I know about ground growing apart from some details of a few commercial secrets mainly related to shaping.

Hmm,

on our side, anyone using science and showing positive results, is not welcomed by those using word of mouth.

Thanks for sharing.
I have noticed that you put your opinions of a couple other members in your response to me.
I don't know why. I also am a pretty direct person and cutting through the bs is fine with me. I try not to judge someone's standards based on pics of their tress because they may not have the skills needed yet to attain their personal standards. I try to help them if I can.

But back the truck up- you grow rare orchids.
Can you please share a couple photos here?
With their names.
I enjoy orchids very much Brassavola species are my favorites. Easy blooming and fragrant. Very common- yes but little stars is my favorite.
Also it breeds easily with Laelia and I love the varieties it produces in the cross.
What are some that you have?

Thank you. Those are amazing.
Certainly worth a bit of appreciation ;)
