I just left a place that had a "baby blue" spruce as the guy called it. 4' tall with about a 3" trunk and had a nice bend in the trunk right from the base but I couldn't pull the trigger for $60 😔

Yeah. I hear you. I mistakingly said 100$
For the potted one I posted earlier. It was 60$ as well. Still Too much for a novelty Christmas tree competition though.

I’ll jump in on this. I’ll pick something up in the next few days.

Ok, I'm in. Picked up a rosemary tree at the grocery store.

Cold zones people: What are y'all doing for overwintering your trees this first year? I feel a lot more comfortable overwintering something that I've seen sitting outside in my possession throughout fall than I do something of dubious history being sold in December in a heated store.

This is one of the big advantages of the rosemary, it comes inside for the winter. The trade off being it has to get plenty of sun and babying the roots.

In addition to whether or not you keep your trees inside or out, I would love to hear about what you might be doing to the trees as far as styling or potting over the winter, or will most people wait till spring for any work...

Think I’m going to slip pot mine without messing with the roots much and I may shorten it a bit while the sap is slow. I’m trying to resist the urge to do too much, but with only a certain time frame before it should be ready, a bit of a plan get it to resemble a bonsai is in order.

For me, this winter will be to mainly keep it alive, assess the tree and try to envisage an end product. Work out a style and what I need to do to get there. I have a spruce so not much of any styling is recommended for the better part of a year...I’m still trying to work out if I get away with it though because wiring is a job for the winter with these.

Mine being a rosemary 'can' be repotted at anytime of the year. Being a Mediterranean plant they love a more sandy soil. For now I just plan to keep it watered till atleast the worst of the winter has passed before I repot it into a good cactus mix.

Well, I might as well enter since I picked up a dwarf Alberta spruce a few days and planned to do something with it after Christmas.
Maybe I'll get another, have to see what I can find locally.
Will post it tomorrow after I get pictures.
