The Literati/Bunjin Thread

Shimp from nursery stock. First styling was this year. Pads will be reduced. Lowest branch will be removed. I may jin the apex entirely and just build on the two lower branches.20221108_190342.jpg

Not too sure this totally falls in line as a Bunjin. It definitely has struggled though. It was the lone survivor of a very early attempt at a cascade rock planting. Not tall or scant but there's definitely a trunk line, lol. Still a lot to be done with it.

Arizona cypress, yeah.
Was recently wondering if anyone working with these. Yours looks like Yamadori possibly(?). Anyone else you know working these? Has Ryan anything to say about them? They have interesting but stiff somewhat sparse foliage.

Arizona cypress, yeah.
I have a couple of these in the ground from 4 inch pots 3 years now. I love the foliage but I don't see a bonsai in them. Hoping to prove myself wrong next spring when I dig this bed.

Thanks for answers;). Ruddigger if unhappy with this consider dumping on me please😁. I like it.

I’ll be joining the Literati Club soon! I just ordered this little guy from Andy at Golden Arrow Bonsai. I think it’s a nice starter tree to get into styling literati. I’ve got to see it in person, but I’m thinking of turning one side into a jin and getting even a bit more movement into the other.

..still cutting on this deer browse hackberry recently collected..believe deer put in the work not me. put on the tree thread; although, believe is more at home over here.

side note, have been cutting back a lot of trees hard, only one to slightly bleed in this warm winter is a single hop hornbeam, luckily hackberry among last to leaf -think it will turn out
