The Houseplant Thread - what do you have?

fellow accountant, pretty orchids and i saw your jade in another thread. i almost commented on the jade. red ones (two red types) are some of the more rare jades. but, a lot of classic ones show red w different light exposure. for instance my green classic have red bottoms now (they misbehaved, jp) but yours have like 75% red leafs in some cases...i had a spider plant in my office w no drainge lol. no windows in my office. it had to be remedied at home and is loving life now. i want to bring a led grow light in here and something back to my cave soon

reference

notice the first one silver jade, i thought mine might be that in my above post. still think it is that or just an oblique.

The ones that are red are just from a regular jade I picked up at the grocery store a few years back. The other one and the cork bark stay green, although they are in the same window sill. View attachment 336899View attachment 336900View attachment 336901
the second two look like elephant bush to me, nice plants with the redish trunks. the first one came from an 'all green jade'? if thats the case than its just conditional i think, otherwise maybe it is one of the ruby jades. seems like a lot of red. i might have read (forgot 'a' in last word and was very confused during proofread. red red red read) somewhere that if you propagate a jade from something small (leaf or small cutting), it could develop into a different type. like ovatas can propagate to oblique/a , etc.

i could be wrong about everything i just wrote btw

Yep, plain green one. They are in a south window and get lots of sun. I can't keep my orchids there, the leaves burn. The last one is a cork bark cutting I got from a member here.

very cool and i hear you on south windows. i have to keep my blinds half shut sometimes because of the intensity

been keeping an eye in big box stores for deals and clearance. i ended up scoring at home depot because they had new assorted tropicals in terracotta (i repotted into ones w drainage) for $5. so the pilea, snake (still trying to ID, maybe a Black Gold), scindapsis ((pothos basicaly, but metallic pixel leafs, prob happiest find in these $5 ones)) the climbing aloe (stoked, was looking for one of them) and jades x3 were all in same pot for $8. the tiger aloe was $4. not a bad full lot for under $30 in my opinion

i dont really plan on more jade now except a hummels sunset or lime vari jade. going to pull back on purchases soon
until next year.

ill bonsai some jades in the future

rhoeo and philodendron

big aloe, little aloe and dieffenbachia in the back

more dieffenbachia

more rhoeos

sempervivums

so the rhoeo is like a large leaf wandering j*w?? those are cool looking. like a mix of spider plant and wander yeww (surf jargon)

jargon for dieffenbachia is chinese evergreen?

lemon lime philo? i kick myself for buying a brasil philo (because i have golden pothos) instead of a lemin lime one like yours that they had...

nice plants

Thanks, yeah the rhoeo is a tradescantia spathacea, it's related to wandering jew, but is a a compact dwarf type with big leaves. It's also called a boat lily because it grows tiny flowers inside boat-shaped leaves.

My philodendron is just a heartleaf that I keep too close to the window. I actually found one variegated leaf on it though and I'm trying to see if it will propagate.

This here is the top of an overgrown paddle plant. I Had to Chopin hard so I rooted the cutting with a couple hens/chix.AD4F0450-86A9-4EE1-817C-A661D275201F.jpeg
Lil office Jade plant.

the philo is cool, i have one too. dark green regular one and then the brasil. the brasil i have a repotted rooted cutting going for it.

Mine might actually be a lemon lime, it was given to me with no ID so I just self identified it.

cool kolonchoe (sp?) and composition of the jade

i ruled out this thing as a paddle plant, not one. i cant find anyone who knows what it is except they think jade. but this thing has a couple 4" leafs on it and i cant find any reference anywhere except a trailing jade possibly (not a jade technically)...kind of a cool mystery.

Looks a lot like jade IDK. The semi gloss of the leaves with dimple. You don’t think it’s a jade plant?

even the red edges, ill be damned the leafs are bigger than any other reference i can find. im going with freakish jade for now. the leafs are so big the plant want to trail which led me towards the trailing thing
