My first rex begonia. Looks like a nuclear weapon hit it. The colors man!
so you inspired me. i got a begonia, but i went for a cane version because i like how they mimic trees more
with the single stem. my caladium are the rex style stem with just a bunch of stems, not positive but theyre maybe tubers or rhizome (horizontal rex roots they pop up from i believe, not deep)
anyway, i got an Angelwing cane begonia the other day. i want to put this in Leca but its risky because begonia can be a challenge ive heard let alone stripping all soil and replotting into clay balls.
i heard begonia prefer moist soil, and the canes style need to be topped to stay healthy (bonsai, jp)
they like high humidity and medium light.
fail (forgot to take photo of it, will post later)
so heres a shot of my $18 monstera minima, which came with these two beefy plants in it.
plan is to seperate them and plant one in soil and one in Leca, they have enough air roots and future limbs coming through that i should stake or mosspole them, or get them to crawl up my new shelf.
well see how the root setup is...might be weird fitting this in mason jar leca
scope the coverage on my window with new shelve, some serious 10 am light, i have to shut blind to not burn a lot of this...im still adding some supplies to lower shelves (pots, trays, etc.) ditching the smaller shelf or still figuring our some arrangements

these are my moisture lovers...my arid/succulent window is getting full but i expect to have about 50-100 plants on this shelf in time
