The Car Thread

Muscle is impressive... I like working on "poured" cars, too.. don't get me wrong.

But give me a 3.0 - 3.5 L Inline 6, Mitsubishi made, (the ones they used to put in Toyota Supras)... And a few jeep motors for parts... (And a turbo kit made from a deisel Benz)

And I can do wheelies in my car!

I miss that car...

I flipped it into a river.

🤣

Been sober since 10/12/21
10/13/21 I quit smoking after 40yrs. Ironic on our dates:) That was hard enuff... baby steps. LOL And you would be surprised at the fuel efficiency of this boat. (or maybe not as a fellow gear head) I can cruise 50-60mph w/out getting near the 4 barrels. It's very efficient and tons better than any similar sized cruiser boat. Better than most HO Outboards. I can have a fun weekend on 50-100 dollars in fuel. Now if I try to runs 80s... guzzle guzzle. But that is only a short squirt. I do all my own work too or I couldn't own it. That pic sticking out of the garage was when rebuilding everything from the windshield on back.

I’ll admit booze has been tough . Alcoholism can creep up on you start off work hard play harder then heavy drinker then it’s making you waste part of your life . Boat is way nice what are the engines . Aluminum head big block Chevy ??? My fishing buddy is a tournament guy here . I help him pre fish Up till Covid was sponsored by boat company . So had multiple pro staff demo boats . My fav was his 19 foot ranger 225 E-tech . He had larger boats and motors but that ranger was bad ass . As a ex snowmobile racer I have a soft spot for 2 strokes

yes 30 over 454s nothing crazy. Prolly 550hp each Built them to be reliable and fun. I drag raced motorcycles and blew crap up on a regular basis for 20yrs. I'm getting older/lazier/smar
edit... I can't even spell smarter. LOL

Granted this is fairly rare . When a lead acid battery is fully charged the fluid in it is sulphuric acid will not freeze until about -50 c when the battery is completely discharged the fluid is pure water (I don’t recommend trying to drink it ). When a battery is discharged and it freezes . You can see it . The sides will bulge out . And it often will have frost built upon the sides . If you boost a car with a frozen battery this is what can happen . The battery explodes .normally there is no fire 🔥 . But corosive. Acid flies everywhere. Never never never boost a frozen battery . Like I said it’s rare .and lots of people say it’s I problem .here is the proof .

Barrett Jackson . Mist likely today . One if the nicest best pedigree . F40s Ferraris hits the auction block no reserve . Multiple vids exist . Search nardy grey f40 . For those that don’t know . These cars are heavily sought . By collectors . Especially in Europe . Hard to think this European owned car . With racing history . In crazy pristine condition . Will leave European hands . Any tackers on estimate winning bid . I’m going between 2.5 and 3 million US $

A 73 Kawasaki Z1 went for 50k at Mecum yesterday. I used to drag race with the owner. I think he is a Canadian. He was hoping for 25k :)

I have a 76 w/3k miles just sitting. Maybe time to dig it out.

As you know the z1 heavily raced and modified . I would imagine . Pristine stock version . Is worth the most . Based on rare . My first modified drag sled . Pic in this thread . Was a factory bombardier 1979 oval f1 or snow pro sled . Even rarer as a Moto ski instead of the more common Ski doo . Origins of mine was factory backed 4 sled race teams spare chassis never raced on oval . I left it stock never lengthened the chassis . Or lightened the front suspension for drag racing . It was never cut up and modified as so many were for other oval racing classes . It resides today in a private collection in Wisconsin restored to its oval racing form . As a replica of the 1979 world championship winning 340 cc moto ski . The owner was pretty excited when he seen what I promised as a untouched stock chassis . Paid well for it but worth a lot more now

A friend just told me it sold for 2.75 mill . I think I should run out and get a lottery ticket 😂😂😂

I seen the bike on cycle drag very nice bike crazy price
Jack K/Cycle Drag was a young announcer for AMA Prostar when I was racing. Good guy. Konipaci/bike owner was also racing then.

I-500 snowmobile oval race tomorrow. Over 50 year tradition . Unique one of a kind oval race . 500 Laps 1 mile ice oval race track Soo Michigan . About 10 miles from the USA / Canada border . Should be pretty intense cold 🥶 but hard ice makes good racing

No multiple drivers . Was there once . On way to a drag race in Mich. we stopped and watched about 1/2 of it . I can’t remember if they have to use 3 drivers or that’s the max . But they pit stop them . Put fresh carbide runners in the front fuel . Sometimes some fresh studs in the track pretty intense . Watched some qualifying last night . 39 second Laps 110 mph on the back stretch . 2 Gs no the corners I think that was the fastest class .

Coldest I drag raced . Canadian championship . Lake Nippising. North bay Ontario -29c I think . Engines make great power x broke a world record . I remember never taking the helmet off all day and sitting in the staging lanes with my hands on the cylinder heads . ( I used to wear summer motorcycle gloves for better feel ) look at a map it’s a big lake when the wind blows . It will make you call for your mother . .

One of my favourite cars I work on . If you call changing the oil once a year work . 2006 ford GT original owner less than 3000 khm on the odometer all original , sorry for the poor pics . Owner don’t mind but can’t allow the licence plate to be in pic

It seems like every hobby group I join has at least one car thread, we seem to find each other everywhere we go.

My summer daily 1975 Datsun B210, kinda of period modded, mildy warmed engine with non US emissions head and weber carb. Brakes and suspension work:

My summer toy 1977 Toyota Celica which currently is on stands with a blown trans. 1uz-fe powered, completely rust free but "paint" is actually plasti dip... I have a non us style fiberglass front bumper for it that I plan to chrome wrap and need a solution as a fill panel for the gap below the rear bumper. US Spec bumper hid the spare tire well more. Would love to find some Japanese wheels for it once the drivetrain is sorted a little better. She absolutely rips when drivable. 1uz (as well as the 2uz in my winter daily/camping/hauling sequoia) have the smoothest torque delivery I have experienced.
