The 2024 Yamadori/Collecting Thread

It is late fall here in Sweden. Construction workers were chopping down a strip of green, apparently for a parking lot. I asked and was able to rescue one of the few longer stumps. A few weeks ago, these were wonderful bushes with fiery red leaves and nice black berries on them.

Hope it survives the winter.

What is it?

What is it?
I do not know, honestly. Didn't pay too much attention before they chopped it down and now it's impossible to identify from the stumps alone.

I remember bright red, round leaves and black berries. If it survives, I can tell next year :)

Walked by this the other day, Mother Nature used her pry bar lol unreal that’s like a 6ft tall tree, amazing to see how far the roots go through a crevice

Should be interesting 🤔.. good luck with it.. I'll be checking in to see what happens

A little late but had to get em now before the construction wipes them out. 2 large chinensis... they each had one large tap root but a decent number of feeder roots near the surface for each. Goal for each is just to get them recovered in the spring and growing/fertilize/ maybe do some basic structural determination.

Both loaded up. I covered their root balls as best as I could with field soil.
