...I am removing myself from the competition as I was unable to photograph my tree within the time limits. Totally my fault, i'm a procrastinator. Plus I've been crazy busy with my new job.

Sorry Rob, things got a bit busy this afternoon. It's a go! (and an interesting choice )Well I guess I'm in. Going by the years thing I have to do advanced, rules are rules. (I have been a noob since about 1998). Anyways here's my entry:
Sweet Broom (Cytisus x spachianus) 5 gal. I was having a hard time choosing between this and a little leaf cordia. As you can see I bought 10 5 gal shrubs (most evergreen) for $5.00 each.

It qualifies. Looks to be a nice trunk line in there as well. Good luck!View attachment 70678 View attachment 70677 View attachment 70679
My entry is a buxus microphylla "Winter Gem", I'm entering as Intermediate.
Ummm, I think I need to withdraw this one. I bought it on clearance and there seems to be a lot of die back. I can't style this until I know what's still alive, and what's dead. Can I retract it and start over with a new tree?It qualifies. Looks to be a nice trunk line in there as well. Good luck!

Took me three trees before I finally made it work.Ummm, I think I need to withdraw this one. I bought it on clearance and there seems to be a lot of die back. I can't style this until I know what's still alive, and what's dead. Can I retract it and start over with a new tree?
Yep, it qualifies. Good luck!I am going to be using this ilex. (Japanese holly) helleri holly. Beginner class.
That boxwood had a really great thick trunk and wonderful branching. I am still staring at it, willing it to grow.Took me three trees before I finally made it work.

Thanks for playing.Well, I've put in the time so I guess I'm Advanced although I've really only been dabbling all these years. Here's my entry if it flies. Acacia cognata 'Cousin Itt'.

I am not even going to read one of these "challenges" again.
Too dangerous for me to visit nurseries/garden centers.
[to self: I promise, I promise, I promise, I promise, I promise, I promise--subconscious?--yea, right.]
Every time I do, I go out looking "just to see what is around" and
run into stuff -- that does not fit one or another parameters--
that is just too good to pass on for the price. So I blow whatever
budget I have for it on three times the stock and end up with more
work to do. In the last two I have come up with:
a monster holly, a monster juniper, three different cypresses, another juniper, a crape myrtle,
and yet another yaupon--and still no entry.
The holly is the only one(s) that qualify. So, let's see this "monster holly".So what ya going to enter?

That is an awesome American holly! You're going to make me show you my collected Burford aren't you?As I said, " . . .still no entry."
I have a ton--several tons actually--of work to do
Years of work and pleasant distraction to go.
Just for scale: That root ball? little over 18" wide and slightly more than 12" deep.

Good luck with the tonnage. There's an open invite for you should something change.
