Sunrise/sunset/sky photos thread

I remember the painted sky from when I was a kid living on Sandia Base. No one knew what their father did.

Still dont, my father just retired but I dont know anything. Lol
I keep trying to get a nice pic of the Sandias in the sunset but never seem to be in a good place when sunset comes around. Maybe I'll have to just go and waste an hour one of these days and enjoy the sunset. Best part about here is you almost always have a good sunrise and sunset, I have buddies who moved away and only came back because they missed the sky.

My dad was with The United States Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) . The base was divided by the main street. One side military and the other was civilian. We watched the first atomic bomb blast at White Sands from our roof.

All I know is he did "computer security".

That must've been one hell of a sight to see!

Here is pudgy little ol' me standing below a Pine which appears to be ne of the three Foxtail Pine species. My maps on this tree seem to indicate that they do not exist this far North on the borders of Wyoming and Montana ending in Yellowstone on the Beartooth Mt. pass at around 10,000-12,000 ft. However here it is and has been around here for probably several-hundred years. I suspect it to be Foxtail understanding that most of its neighbors are of this sub-species.
