Not trying to hijack the thread, but why is this? And does the stone color depend upon the species and/or character of the tree? I don't think I'm ready to try RoR yet, just trying to learn for future endeavors. The colour isn’t great. Dark stones are better
You want a pleasing contrast between the roots and the stone. This can be accomplished in several ways: light colored roots over a dark stone, dark colored roots over a light stone, smooth roots over a rough stone, etc.. Ficus roots are fairly smooth so they would contrast well with the very rough stone that Jorgens wants to use.Not trying to hijack the thread, but why is this? I believe its called moonstoneI have some of this "Texas holy rock" (limestone), but I haven't figured out what it would look good with, or if it's even good for a tree.
Is it ok for trees, pH-wise? I read it can harden water and raise pH of soil. Maybe it would be best for trees that like high pH?I believe its called moonstone
Thank you for the confirmation!I have used the limestone holy rock with Chinese elm and Natal plum with no problems over many years.
