My valley oak grew some very not ideal roots.

What does that mean? Do you mean past the development phase and ready for refinement? Or are you asking if it’s too far developed to include in this thread?

Your “eggs” have legs and antennae. Some kind of aphid?

Oh gosh, thanks guys. i sprayed it down today with some insecticide and then watered the leaves down. Hopefully it got all of them.
But oaks man, i find that my tree attracts a lot of different kind of species..

I’m still enjoying the clip-n-grow to keep this Coast Live Oak dense and vigorous

December 3, after; a bit of an edit to remove extra branches, improve structure, and to knock back the strength of terminal buds


I’ve still left up to five nodes on some branches. It’ll get a hard, mid-season prune next year. I continue to have to let it “run out” its strong growth habit.

When was last repot? Seems needed done sooner. Any picture after trim of roots?
