I’ll look it up later, but it appears that I have a male and female in the garden - one is ~30% larger than the other. I hope this leads to an egg sack.

And, not to interfere with the order of things, I decided they looked hungry so I caught each a stink bug for a snack! They aren’t the last two stink bugs I’m going to see!

Trichonephila clavata the Jorō spider. Someone lost the battle in this web. Saw these for the first time a couple years ago and now they’re everywhere and in huge numbers. Another Asian hitch hiker.

We have one too! Yellow garden spider Argiope aurantia, a North American native and one, for me, one of the more beautiful ones. Being replaced by the invasive Joros. This one is in South Carolina. Used to have several at my Georgia home, now none. But plenty of Joros. We leave the light on so things fall in the web, we want her to be fat and reproductive.

Looks like he's saying "What's your problem?" with a NY accent.



And these biting midges, AKA (no-see-ums, punkies, or gnats) make it very annoying to be outside today. Trying to do some trimming & after an 30 min I brought the tree inside. Those blood suckers have been crazy the last few days. I'm not a big fan of spraying chemicals on my skin, but I might do it tomorrow when I bring some tropicals in, just to avoid these microscopic MF's. I kinda can't blame them because I'm so sweet.
