Shohin Chinese Elm

Winter update on my little elm. It grew tremendously this season after reporting it into a deeper terracotta pot in spring. I worked on it through the season and have built up some good structural branches and a few secondaries. Hopefully this is the last work I need to do on the primary structural bits and can start working on the outer twigs next season.

How is this tree doing today, any updated photos?

Here you go @Pine_nut. It got repotted into a much shallower pot in Spring (around August-September here). I need to round out the canopy more, it has a much too conical shape. I’m trying to get the twigs in the upper right and left “edges” (think 10-11 and 1-2 o’clock positions) to elongate, I’ll keep working on letting those regions grow out as I build out the canopy.

...and impressive results like this are the exact reason such techniques are considered "standard." I have so much to learn. Thank you for the education!
