Shohin Chinese Elm

Very cool progression loved reading through it and seeing the accompanying pictures!

I have also found copper to be useless, I don't use systemics but now I definitely won't bother. Lime sulfur was actually what I was thinking this year. Just frustrating because I have had some chinese elms give a really nice fall show but only without black spot which just makes my trees look horrendous by mid fall

@Brian Van Fleet curious if you feel the same as your comments from 2015 looking at the 2022 image? Not that I'm trying to say this tree is that great - I just value your opinion. Would you still say the initial decision was a mistake? And what would you do to further improve the tree? Thanks!

mine went away with its June defoliation. So far so good, new leaves are hardened off and lightly cut back

2024 update on this little tree. This year was the first I can remember for a long time where the black spot was pretty much non existent. I never had to defoliate it. Despite the wrinkles in the backdrop, I like how this pic turned out.

Every time I look at pics of this tree I'm struck by the notion that the base would look much better if the tree was planted deeper in the pot and I never seem to get it right. Maybe next Spring...
