Cooling down allot for a few days, lows almost reaching freezing, but not quite. Chance of rain out of this system, which would be appreciated. It's been red flag warnings for almost a week, largely due to the dry conditions.

Hoping this won't be the trend for the season. Our first day in the 80sF/near 30C is forecast for next week, and no indication of a late spring snow this year. Could be a dry season, and we're about the only part of Colorado left to burn.
 
dry and hot month with no rain in sight, forecasts continue pushing rain further out. Had to begin sphagnum topping my direct sun trees to avoid the need for 3x + daily water. Last year we got a nice dump of rain in April to break the drought, still waiting for it.

Sounds like a global cool spell this week!
Tomorrow we are expected to dip below freezing. Will put my japanese maples, tridents, olives and kaki in the shed. The rest is all local to my climate and should be able to handle it!

Same. I'm also bringing in newly sprouted seedlings and a bald cypress.
 
We got rain early this morning, then again all afternoon and evening. Made for a very refreshing break while painting my dad's living room.
Warming up again over the week, then maybe another chance for rain.

I woke up to frost this morning. I don't think I missed anything. Getting another one Wednesday but after that it looks safe.

Got the 4 wheel studs off my truck a week ago, been busy with life and death. Taking the side boards off the maple grow box today. Frost yesterday and today. Mid to upper 70sF and mid to upper 80s in 10 day forecast with no frost in sight.
I'm more of an upper 60s to low 70s kinda guy myself, so this is a hot stretch coming for my preferences.

Still cool at night. Also, the wind always blows in South Dakota. Gusts up to 40 today and it doesn't say "windy" or "breezy."
How do you guys keep smaller pots from blowing over?

You can adjust where you place them ie a floor and you can strap the pot to a shelf like using wire.
Some tether to a cinder block some place stones on top of pot.
I have wired escape branches to my decks mid rail but this limits immediate access to your tree to move it. Consider both your pot and media weights adds resistance and lighter foliage limits wind resistance. Consider an oak in the yard in Winter in a wind storm. Then the wind resistance the foliage gives in full leaf. It all adds up to countering wind resistance.
