If we're thinking of the same pyracantha, it would have unmistakeable thorns, right?Could it be a Pyracantha?
NO. Many years ago I heard it said a scientist would say these big furry Bumble Bees were aerodynamically not able to fly. But God made them so they can and do fly. Particular Bumbles are big fat and furry but others small slimmer, faster and have bad attitudes. I loved the big ones when a small child and amazed my mom as I'd pet them and they let me for awhile then would fly away. Now because of bugicides I hardly ever see the big ones anymore and miss them. How many kinds of Bumblebee exist? Some of mine are almost too big to fly, are they just old and fat?
Some pictures of the prunus I mentioned. Pretty Similar, no?
