Red Maple Cuttings in progress

plus potted twisty. lets see how big it'll get next year with some escape roots. it definitely would've thickened a little more this year if i hadn't taken cuttings, but it was a nice trade.

Amazing progress. I might steal your idea for securing the pots to the table. It's pretty windy where I live and its always an issue..

Is that a slug? I always figured they were bad news for a tree and a sign of excessive moisture.
leopard slug. this is the only type i usually see in my area eating alge off my trees or pots. seems some of them really love the Japanese green top cut paste. i just thump them into the yard.

When you initially took your cuttings, you used half a water bottle as a dome. How long do you keep them in this dome for?

till i started seeing new growth coming out, then you know you have roots. if i didn't have cats, I'd keep the cuttings under the tables out of direct sunlight until the new growth gets strong/starts hardening off.
