Random bonsai stuff in Vietnam

Just to be clear, I think a few of these are vines trained in a group to become bonsai... Are my eyes deceiving me on this? Either way I apparently need to take a global trip to see fantastic specimen like these
None are vines. They are all individual trees. Some are gigantic 35 ft tall bonsai.

Thanks for sharing. I just got back from Uganda a couple weeks ago and I was checking out the trees everywhere I went.. big beautiful acacias and ficus natalensis EVERYWHERE.
Forgive me if I’m intruding but are you on a bucket list trip? Business? Or perhaps mission?

Family trip. Bonsai by happenstances.

Great pictures! The form they use in the first photo underneath the branches is pretty neat. I’m guessing that is a common practice there?

I took that one on purpose to show the form for the pad.
It is eye opening to see 35-40ft tall bonsai in gigantic containers. They said prices do not include crane service at delivery point.

Loving the photos! That first picture in the last post has an odd branch angle which could be perceived as a flaw right? I know the generally if a material is old you wouldn't change some flaws but generally speaking this should be something one keeps an eye on for younger material right? (It's silly to ask but seeing these old refined pieces makes me wanna ask questions to reaffirm what i think I know)

I don't think they're overly concerned with the Japanese sense of aesthetics.

I spent the last two weeks traveling through Vietnam. Every where I went, there are bonsai. From the palaces, temples, businesses, to houses and shacks, I see bonsai. The skill level varies greatly but the practice is very very broad. I feel like I can talk bonsai to one out every 10-15 people.

Truly amazing. With bonsai apparently being so ubiquitous, what are the prices like out there? I would imagine that many of the trees you shared would cost a small fortune state side.
