Pseudotsuga menziesii (Douglasfir)

I’ve repotted the tree this morning. I’m loving that it’s an Oregon native tree in a pot by Oregonian Natasha Bodorovsky.

It’s possibly rotated a bit too far clockwise. Those lowest branches are still likely only sacrificial. The upper branches have produced decent back buds in the past year so I might be able to cut back well during the growing season.

It turns out the former soil wasn’t adequately sifted and had far too many fines! I’ve learned since then :)

The sub-par soil explains some of its growth struggles and it turns out the root ball was extremely shallow. I’m excited to see how it responds to this work.

Coming along nicely! I love the doogies. I have a nice one to collect this spring. I'm not showing any movement yet up this high, but I see buds on trees down at about 1500', my trees at 4000' so it'll be awhile still.

GOOD progress;). However feel pot too shallow for summer dryness times. Didn't want any bigger trunk:confused:?

The tree survived the summer but it is looking a little chloritic right now. I guess I over watered it.
