Practice Trees - Post 'me Up.

I've abused my first few practice trees a couple of weeks ago. Might re-do the Thuja since I see a completely other tree in it now then I did when I was working on it the first time.

Let it be for now!

I gotta spruce that went from three to two to five trunks....now it may go back to one....

But most of this went on inside my head!

Go slow....when you cant shake the image...
And the tree agrees by not presenting any more possibilities...then style it!

Nice!

I've often thought of layering the top off. The fact that there are no live limbs to feed the top has me concerned. I am considering approach grafts lower on the trunk. Once they are established I may be able to layer the top. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, let's make an end on it. I like this tree. I like it just the way it is.
There will be no air layer. The trunk I always call a baseball bat could just as easily be stately and majestic. I spent some time and removed all the old flakey bark and cleaned all the deadwood in the top. I'm without tools except my hand tools, but I'd do some work on the deadwood when I can tool up. That's it. I'll call it a literati and there's an end on it.

Then youve made up your mind
Work with what the tree has to offer

If it were mine

Thin the foliage out
Wire every single branch on the tree
Bend it make pads

Everytime you see something you dont like cut it off
What will you gain

Lotta wireing experience
Building pads experience

What will you lose?
Nothing !

If you like the tree thats what counts!
