Post up your needle junipers!

Perfect formal uprights can be a rare thing in the bonsai world.

This is what I'm looking to find a potential candidate in the next year or so. I want to have a really good formal upright in my life. If you see one, I'm on the prowl....

Not that I would be able to find you a candidate, but just curious what species you are looking for your formal upright?
After seeing a formal upright demo recently with a black dragon cryptomeria I have a desire to try and find one next spring.

Infamous Tosho from the Ishii's perhaps, Mr Nut ?

quite a nice and rare lil piece

Yes sir :) Gary's mom has a much bigger one that they keep on their "family table". I've only seen one for sale... maybe they have additional stock in the back somewhere.

Very cool.

everyone, sorry about the insider so-cal stuff, we are talking of the Ishii Family owners of Chikugo-en in Gardena Ca.

Story I heard is the Mas (patriarch) brought a small cutting of this species back from japan like 1000 years ago. It has the most interesting foliage. It is a weeping/prostrate tree, and the new growth tips are light green and really soft. Most folks that see mine think it is spruce

Should be used more, would you concur Mr. B-nut ?
