Pine bark maple

Here is a Zelkova I air layered a few years ago. The rooting only took ONE year.... The roots were very poor and I had to improve the base.

Thought it looked like arakawa, thanks. Wow the looks busy but you are the man so I will give it a shot. So it doesn’t look to be very mature yet still a you tree, will this back bud since there isnt that much rough bark yet? And the plus side is I will have more to play with or sale, thanks for the input.

Yes, it should back bud. But do not wait to wire and shape the branches you want to maintain. Do NOT drastic prune branches back to were there are no buds.

Just be careful, as maples are brittle.
