Good to see some folks have warmer weather than us right now. (Not so sure would love the summer there though! )
The thought about the Olive’s response to the cutback has mainly to do with how much active top hamper the tree has. This foliage photosynthesizing and hormonal signals above the air layer are what fuels the new root growth. From the last image it seems a moderate amount of young growth.
Is it possible to make an image as a baseline to show later on?
THANK you, I have been wondering why my (nursery-grown) olive looked like a mutant! I came to this thread for info on air layering olives because the lignotuber is kind of enormous, and I think I might get 2 ok trees out of it.
