Three miles of that pile into that wall... WOW! I want to hide under the rocks since I can't even get the front yard borders done... I think the total length is about 100 ft.

So we’ve bought an old timber framed barn. The plan is to stand it on the property and build it out as one bedroom residence. We’ll move into that and take our time in building the main house. Let me tell you about the barn. It is an English barn built ca. 1830. It stood on a farm just outside of Gloversville, NY (home of the dUS glove making industry). English barns are rectangular in shape and generally 3 bays with an entrance on the sidewall and no basement. They were generally scribe rule framed and very widespread in the northeast prior to the early 1800’s. The frame is constructed of softwood timbers (probably Eastern White Pine and/or Eastern Hemlock). English barns fell into disuse by the mid 1800’s as more modern farming practices demanded bigger barns. This one stood unused for many decades. By the time it was carefully dismantled, it was nearing a state of collapse. Here are some pictures from when the barn was taken down.
