Hi there,
I'm excited to have found this forum. I started doing Bonsai 2 years ago because there are tons of little maple trees and mulberry trees that grow in our yard and just get mowed down. I wanted to save them. Over the past two years I've had little luck keeping them alive, I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing wrong. Hoping to learn from this group. I had one tree make it for an entire year, made it through the winter even, it was a little Japanese maple, but spring came and I thought the pot wasn't so great it seemed that it wasn't draining well enough. I think this is where I killed it. I repotted it in what I thought was a better pot, it died soon after. I currently have a mulberry tree I just dug up and a maple tree, also trying to grow a Gardenia, so far they are all looking ok. The Gardenia today wasn't looking spectacular though. I am trying something new with them this year and created a bit of a greenhouse effect with two plastic cups. They seem better. I have one tree I found and potted that I have no idea what it might be, this one is just in a little pot. Picture attached.

Yes and yes. I just rescued what I believe is a black mulberry. It was removed for being too close to a house. I think it's about 3 years old. I'm attaching a picture, I hope it survives but it was pretty roughly and aggressively removed from the ground, I trimmed it down a bit as well so IDK if it's going to make it. I also just added moss to the other little trees you asked about. Should they not be outside?
