I don't think there is a better image on earth...

than a plant in an ole nasty terra cotta pot on an ornate Chinese stand!

Well done!

lol... I busted out laughing at this...I know, that you know, the stand is doing nothing but raising the tree off the table. That is my all purpose tree raiser.

How about this...An old rough tree in an old rough pot on an old wood table. I hope this redeems me.:D

Fantastic job Rob as I expect from guys like you! :) One comment. If it were my tree I'd try for a more compact apex. If you look towards the left of the tree, the negative areas between the pads are a bit too repetitive. Regardless I hope you know that I think you've done a wonderful job indeed!!

You are a true artist Rob, and I can only hope I'm half as good as you one day. I know people won't agree with it, but I think I'm going to start styling my Ficus like you style these beauties ;)

Thanks Mach..I agree. I should mention that this tree is very deceiving though. Providing you are going by the updated pics. There is very little foliage on this tree. In time when it fills in, the pads will grow into each other. The tree is only 10 inches tall so it won't take long. :D

The apex is nothing more than a couple of tufts of young foliage. I cut back just enough to keep that area alive. Due to the foliage, if I cut back any more, I would have to cut the only bits of foliage on those apex branches. The whole top part of the tree is actually extremely compressed. Also, the entire top of the tree is compacted and pulled down..lol. Here are views of the left and right sides showing the things I am referring to. It is a deceiving tree in reference to size, foliage and movement isn't it. :D

Thanks Ryan. You are probably already there and don't know it. Get a juniper with a bunch of branches, cut off what you don't need and then wire some movement in the branches and wire them down. You might be very surprised. Starting with great material means a lot. Not everything, but a lot. Thank you again for the compliment. :D
