Very nice tree, but that jin is simply too low down on the trunk to be attractive (or realistic) at any length.

I probably shouldn't admit it but that jin is why I bought the damn thing. I love it but I do understand why others wouldn't
 
Just make sense of the jin; probably what Harry's suggesting...Tell the story of how the left half of the tree was killed, leaving only the long jin, and all the growth is now on the right side of the tree.
 
It's long term anyway. This thing was collected in the spring of 2010 so I've done everything that I'm gonna do now

Brian , I did shorten it some ( last two photos ) and it did help.
 
Any updates on this tree?

I remember seeing it on Andy's site way back when, I had actually considered buying it.
 
It had a hard time last summer adjusting to the heat. It's growing like a weed now but all the new foilage is juvinal so it looks like a couple more years till anything can be done.
