I chopped a Chinese and there’s no new growth a week in a half later. Am I just be impatient or does it take time ? It has been since put in a nice size grow box with good draining soil too. Hope it’s not dead

Chopped a Chinese!
A Chinese what!
Oh god!!!

Lol!
Keep waiting.....

Give it some time.
Trees are in a whole different time zone than humans.
It should start popping buds out of the bark and right from the top cuts if it was healthy at time of cutting.
Once it starts let it grow.
Don't worry about branch selection maybe cut out multiples in late summer down to one.
And as soon as you see green fertilize the hell out of it.
Some like to say you need to develop patience in order to do bonsai right.
I like to say all you need to do is wait.

Sure ain't true according to @ABCarve theory of patience, "equals time plus desire".

If that's all it is, you certainly need more than patience to do Bonsai, since we all desire a good tree, but rarely get em!

Best just wait!

I do a lot of waiting.
Hell I only do as little as possible to them as is.
But funny thing is I've noticed my trees are better for it.
