My Shohin Collection ....

Very nice display Peter. I understand it's a silhouette show, but I'm struggling a bit with the top tree. I feel the trunk reclines to the right and I want it to move my eye left, back into the display. I wonder if the persimmon is strong enough to be the top tree, and how a shimpaku might look in the upper right box position for just a little variety?

Good Eye!

Great thoughts for us training that eye!

That top tree does send your eye up some imaginary flagpole.

Looking again....the bright blue pot contrasting with the tree, Also bright,
Kind of leaves you hanging up there.

This is cool seeing your display. I would really love it if you'd do a post on how to do a shohin display correctly. I've done some studying about them, but as you are the shohin king, and have a lot of choices, I'd be obliged to hear your thoughts about how you put one together. I'm just starting to get enough of them to want to make my own display.

I kinda agree with Brian on that top tree though, its not like it doesnt work either,
It is a little bit of an eye stopper though. But i also think that the color of the trunk in this picture is causing it.
That persimon tree look great!

Good eye Brian!!! It does recline to the right and it violates the position of the main top tree as they rejected my blackpine at top because all they want are deciduous trees at winter silhouette show.... Will try to re-position another tree ... Thanks
