My shimpaku shohin.

I like the 2nd pot a lot more... but I think it may be a little small. Here it is in the actual size:

Here it is about 20% larger (the size that looks best to my eye):

You clean up that bark so you could see the red live veins... it would be KILLER! That would be a show tree :)

I'm pretty sure I can get it into the Bigei, though I can't say it will be placed in the ideal location...probably won't matter much. As far as the bark goes, it will be cleaned. The lime sulfur always ends up on the bark of this one, so it went on first with the plan to work the bark after. I'll post more pictures if and when the pot changes. Thanks for everyone's suggestions.

New pot oh yea! Immediate difference!

You better not!! This is another nice progression of yours, it's come a long way. I can't wait to see it get a little bushy. The bigei pot makes it look even more polished.

Nice tree but the top needs trimmed to remove the Alfalfa !

Very nice little tree. Thanks for sharing it.

What is that I see on the outside picture? Wire that's been removed by spinning it off and not cut in little chunks???

Dave, you HAVE come over to the dark side!

Looks great in the new pot Dave.

Wait a minute! I thought Boon would rap your knuckles with a knob cutter if you didn't unravel your smaller gauges of wire...dark side my ass!:D

Fwiw, that's a bunch of smaller gauge aluminum wire I've harvested from older projects. I planted out a bunch of palmatum seedlings today that have that wire wrapped around them, now.

This is a great little tree. I think that pot suits it well. The etching on the pots goes with the deadwood lines. If I had to try to critique it I guess it is a bit symmetrical with the left and right sides starting in the same height.

Oh, no... The punishment is much worse than that!

He makes you remove the wire from a toshu juniper, you know, the ones with spikes for needles? THEN, rewire it!

It's actually less symmetrical then the picture implies, but it is something I'm aware of and will improve on as the tree matures. Thanks for the post.
