my scissors hit the deck...

Glad you were over wood and not concrete!
Definitely. One of the reasons I work my trees in that particular spot. I've heard that scissors with broken tips are practically useless. At least I know mine are sharp!

No visible damage, probably because it hit the deck on the path of least resistance.

Nice artistic coloration and composition in the “scissors in the wood” photo. I’m sure this was a gentle reminder to be much more careful with all tools in and out of the house.

What brand are those? I would be crying were they Kaneshin, Joshua Roth, Masakuni, etc... as the steel they use is very brittle. The very tip of my first Joshua Roth chipped inside my tool bag.

Now the tricky question to all..

You are working barefoot on a concrete floor and the scissors drop. Do you put your feet in between the falling tool and the concrete or not?
I know my reflex and have done it a number of times, one of my feet will shoot out before I can say Whoaa!
Can't help it! Just like the time I did a WWF clothesline on a guy who jumped out from a corner trying to scare me and my children during a Halloween trick or treat trip.
PS: For what it's worth, my older son did say: "So cool, Dad!"

Glad you were over wood and not concrete! I’ve had a close call dropping bonsai scissors while wearing sandals before. I think there is a bonsai injuries thread.

Wow, scary!

I once accidentally dropped a small knife and it stabbed the top of my foot and just nicked a blood vessel. When I put weight on the foot, the blood spurt out about a foot high.

My immediate reaction was "lol that's cool", then "oh that's not good"

yikes lol in my 12 years of working in EMS, I never responded to a bonsai related injury

I cut my palm pretty badly when preparing an air layer. It was in the middle of nowhere, so I finished the air layer first with a lot of my blood spreaded all over it, and then drove to the closest pharmacy. The lady at the pharmacy seemed pretty scared - she took me to the back and sterilized and bandaged my hand.

The bad part was that the air layer did not take after all...

I had to bandage it myself. Wasnt bonsai related. I was 50 miles out in the ocean on a boat at the time and had just used the knife to bleed a tuna.

I just took out the first aid kit, and wrapped it up with pads and gauze and just stayed off it and kept it dry while ran back in.

It wasn't too bad of a nick and stopped bleeding by the time we docked so no EMS was needed thankfully

they are Joshua Roth. I really don't have reason to suspect they were damaged, likely because they went straight into the wood!

I believe I would rather have a hole in my foot over broken (pricey) scissors! LoL
