@Brian Van Fleet ...maybe
@cmeg1 can enlighten me on reducing cluster leaves. It sounds so simple...that I feel I surely am not grasping the concept.
Yes,although I donated my Gingko because I temporarily abandoned bonsai,I did employ that technique that I found in this link
https://kwanten.home.xs4all.nl/bonsai.htm
Was the author of the technique doing this for aesthetic or was it a technique to get a bud to form in the proper direction in the cluster leaf parts.I am really not sure as I did not have the bonsai long enough to find out.
So,in this photo.......if the topmost leaf pointed out in the canopy it would certainly look nicer......no crowded conflicting leaves.Less leaves and more light also,clusters could get crowded in the canopy.
Or if this is actually technique that makes remaining bud that forms in autumn point in the right direction.......that would be cool too.
I say try it....... seems a win win.
But,yea.......let the topmost of the remaining 2-3 leaves point outward.
If you look closely,the 5 leaves are all pointing in different directions,and does seem to be a conflicting mess.....especially if on the interior of the tree.
I have to get another Gingko now to find out how this technique works out.
