How fitting that this tree should pop up on the rotating images up on the top right. The great Ben Oki is gone from this place, I hope there is a bonsai heaven... Sad, but what a legacy he has left us.

That is sad. I was fortunate to spend a day with him working on this azalea. His drawing is still hanging on the wall in my office.

Wow, I did not know. He was a fixture in my bonsai life. I have several trees he worked on. As I said, he will be missed.

Approaching blooming time again. Something went terribly wrong last year, and at about this point, the blooms fried. Not sure if it dried out or froze, but it wasn’t a good year. Hopefully this will be a better year all around.

About full bloom. I didn’t have a chance to reduce each set of flower buds down to one bloom, so it’s a bit chaotic. However, this is the first time for the tree to be in full bloom in this big Koyo, and I think it’s pretty sweet.
