Is this one having a good season Dave?
I'll wire once the branches have lengthened and are lignifying... based on where mine is right now, I wouldn't be wiring for another month at the earliest. Fwiw, this one doesn't see much wire any more. Mainly clip and grow and routine thinning. I'll try to take a picture this weekend.@Dav4 , update? I was also wondering when you first start your wiring after the spring push?
Here are a few pics of the tree from last week. If I were thinking of wiring this one out, I would wait a few more weeks. The shoots still need to lignify a bit more before they can be safely wired. As it is right now, I’m not really wiring this one anymore, but going into the canopy and spinning and cutting back new shoots 2 to 3 times through the growing season To improve the ramification.@Dav4 , update? So, when this tree was collected, it was chopped straight across, the wound sealed, and allowed to bud back. Ultimately, that V cut you see is the result of the carving I subsequently did to make the chop scar look more natural. From what I've seen, it's one of several ways to go as far as creating a tree from nursery or collected stock.Thats a monster! Nice tree. It looks like it has a V at the chop. I have seen that before. Is that pretty standard on BC? @Dav4
