Does anyone currently grow Metrosideros? I have some as street trees nearby, and could get some cuttings that have aerial roots. They would not have leaves though - can't hack off a big segment of limb. Does anyone know if you can cut off all the green and expect to get new growth? Will the aerial roots, if planted, be enough for the cutting?

Thanks for the benefit of your experience.

They say that it's hard work getting cuttings of these to strike and if you do try for the softwood. I don't see any harm in trying it out at least but maybe you will do better waiting for the seeds to develop and pick some seeds. Even then they say use fresh seed only.

Here you go, maybe better to air layer them.

Thanks for the information. Looks like they recommend air layering. I'll try the aerial root "cuttings" and see if I get shoots, and report back.
