Low tech auto watering system

Good for you...and congrats on the nuptials. I spent my honeymoon driving up rt one...spent a day in Portland, Camden, then Bar harbor, then back down to Kennebunk. Got married Memorial day weekend, too...some time last century, though.

I rented a little cabin on Long Pond right outside of Acadia and Bar Harbor. Spent the week fishing in the pond, hiking and biking in Acadia and eating lobster rolls and drinking beer in Bar Harbor. It was a great trip. I enjoyed the spruce forests - something we don't have in VA (except on a couple of the highest mountains). I was going to post some pics in the show your pics thread but I could show some here too.

Hey, man......GREAT PHOTOS!
Maine does give an experience that not too many other places can match.
Yeah, I always figured if I ever left MA, I would have headed north and along the coast...how I ended up in N GA is still a bit perplexing to me...

Great pictures, by the way. It looks like you had a fantastic place to spend the first week of your marriage. Again, congrats.

Back in 2004, I was looking for a job and trying to get the hell out of Northern VA. I interviewed for a position in Portland but it turned out to not be a very good offer. I was bummed at the time because I really like the area.

Cool photos! The scenery certainly looks beautiful. The new wife looks thrilled to bits in the selfie  Congrats!

I hate selfies. I even hate the word selfie. But she made me take this one - and that was her expression. She actually was very happy though.

Yeah, Portland is a great little city...just have to get used to the occasional Nor'easter each winter...which is totally worth it for the so easy access to great seafood!!!

Spent some of my honeymoon in Bar Harbor as well, and have some of those same pics. Really, really lovely.
We were there in mid-October, so the crowds weren't too bad, but I hear it gets crowded in the summer.

I missed this one originally- Congrats to you Va!

I use a similar timer for my garden sprinkler and when I go on vacation I tend to just move all my trees within range of it, but last time I had to do it... Well... Let's just say it was a HUGE PAIN! Gat dawg I have a lot of trees! Took me hours to move them all... It has always worked well for me though.

So, I'm getting married on Saturday and leaving Sunday morning for a week in Bar Harbor, ME. This will be my first extended time away from home since I got seriously into this hobby - and I'm nervous about it.

I've been testing this system out for the last couple days and it seems to be working ok. It's just a cheap battery operated timer purchased at Lowe's.

And 2 sprinklers mounted to posts. Anybody with experience doing something like this; how long do you let the water go? I was thinking 20 minutes or so at 7am. Should I hit them again in the evening too? Right now I'm only watering once a day by hand and I'm worried about wet foliage at night if I do this twice a day.

I'll have to huddle the trees closer together to make sure they are all getting coverage. I have the neighbor coming by every day to make sure everything looks ok but I didn't feel like I could ask him to spend 20 minutes every day watering by hand. Hopefully everything makes it through the week - wouldn't be a good start to the marriage to come home to a bunch of dead trees...
What kind of sprinkler did you use? Adjustable pattern or volume? Close up photo? I'm curious...excellent set-up you created. I need to build/create one.
